Whether a posting is still open

Postings close and boards rarely announce it. We check stored listings against the board that published them, in batches, and when one answers with a removed page we stop showing it in search, in similar jobs, in match scores and in alert emails.

• "Confirmed open" with a date appears in the detail panel when a check actually answered for that listing.
• Most listings show nothing there, and that means we have not looked, not that the job is gone.
• Only positive evidence counts. A page that is gone, or a redirect that drops the posting id. A board refusing an automated request, rate-limiting us or timing out is recorded as unknown and changes nothing, because treating a refusal as an answer would bury enormous numbers of live listings.

Boards differ enormously. Some pull a listing within days of it closing, others leave it up indefinitely, and a few block automated checks entirely. Measured across the newest listings per board, about one in eight of what we were serving had already been taken down.
