It is a rolling window, not a reset at midnight. If you used your fifth call at two in the afternoon yesterday, you get that one back at two this afternoon. The counter rolls forward as old calls age out, and the message you see when you hit the cap says how many you have used.
The cap exists because every call costs money to serve, and one account working through a hundred jobs would take the feature down for everyone. It is a budget, not a paywall: there is no upgrade, no paid tier and nothing that unlocks it.
Where it stops: A generated draft is not stored for you, so regenerating the same cover letter costs another call. Copy anything you want to keep before you move on.
